چکیده

The influence of static stress and alternating loading direction on the potential energy mechanical properties amorphous alloys is investigated using molecular dynamics simulations. model glass represented via a binary mixture which first slowly annealed well below transition temperature then subjected to elastostatic either along single or two three directions. We find that at sufficiently large values stress, becomes rejuvenated collective, irreversible rearrangements atoms. Upon including additional orientation in protocol, rejuvenation effect amplified typical size clusters atoms with nonaffine displacements increases. As result prolonged loading, elastic modulus peak value overshoot during startup continuous compression become significantly reduced, especially for protocols orientation. These findings are important design novel processing methods improve metallic glasses.

Thermal rejuvenation in metallic glasses

Structural rejuvenation in metallic glasses by a thermal process (i.e. through recovery annealing) was investigated experimentally and theoretically for various alloy compositions. An increase in the potential energy, a decrease in the density, and a change in the local structure as well as mechanical softening were observed after thermal rejuvenation. Two parameters, one related to the anneali...

Microstructure of fragile metallic glasses inferred from ultrasound-accelerated crystallization in Pd-based metallic glasses.

By utilizing ultrasonic annealing at a temperature below (or near) the glass transition temperature Tg, we revealed a microstructural pattern of a partially crystallized Pd-based metallic glass with a high-resolution electron microscopy. On the basis of the observed microstructure, we inferred a plausible microstructural model of fragile metallic glasses composed of strongly bonded regions surr...

Atomic structure of Cu–Zr–Ti metallic glasses subjected to high temperature annealing

An influence of high temperature annealing process (before crystallization) on the atomic structure of two different as-prepared ribbon Cu–Zr–Ti metallic glasses (Cu60Zr20Ti20 and Cu55Zr16Ti29, at. %) was experimentally studied by means of differential scanning calorimetry and in situ hard X-ray diffraction. Results of our experiments prove different atomic structure and behaviour of the glasse...

Free Volume Contributing to the Different Yield Behaviors between Tension and Compression Deformations in Metallic Glasses

The different deformation behaviors in the yield stage, in particular, of metallic glasses under uniaxial tension and compression are investigated from an atomic structural perspective, by applying both experimental and simulation methods. A new computational approach for quantitatively calculating free volumes (FVs) in structural models is developed, based on which the manner in which FVs cont...
